Manufacturing an upset end by friction welding in an API X65 steel

چکیده

Deepwater and ultra-deepwater oil gas exploitation might be challenge due to the fatigue damage at touchdown zone (TDZ). Therefore, development of risers with thicker pipe ends (upset end) is a solution diminish issues related through reducing average axial stress. In current study, manufacturing an upset end was carried out by friction welding in API X65 PLS2 steel outer diameter 220 mm. Considering geometry called ‘tube tube’, sections were machined different thickness. Thus, process, rotational speed employed (thicker pipe), while force applied thinner pipe. Hence, this work presents feasibility metallurgical mechanical properties joint. The results showed suitable welded joint good top surface appearance no defects. samples have not fractured tests, which indicate high life
